Ribbon Wands

As much as I sincerely love the church we are getting married at, there is one thing I wasn't too happy about - their post ceremony policy. Basically you can't toss anything (rice, birdseed, rose petals), can't use bubbles, can't do a butterfly release. Nothing of the sort. There had to be a way around it???

Then I found ribbon wands!

How did I make them?

We bought the personalized ribbon and wands from myweddingfavors.com. We bought 50 of each color combo - brown ribbon with gold writing and ivory ribbon with gold writing.

When I saw the example picture of the wands I wasn't too impressed and felt they were missing a little something. Tom, my mom and I on a trip to Michael's bought 10 spools of 1/8" ribbon in brown and ivory.

We cut all the ribbon into 26" strips and matched up 1 personalized strip with 2 strips of the 1/8" ribbon of the opposite color (i.e. the brown personalized strip with 2 ivory strips of the 1/8" ribbon)

After laying the personalized ribbon text side down, I layered the 2 accent ribbon strips on top of it and put a small drop of hot glue in the center (at the 13" inch mark).

I placed the wand in the center, wrapped the ribbon around it and waited for the glue to cool and harden.

Viola! All done!

At the church, guests will be given a wand to wave as we exit the church. It also acts as a ceremony favor.
