Everything is Coming Together!

September 6th: I wanted to be semi-traditional and honor my Hispanic roots, so when it came to my veil I went with a knee length mantilla. Natalie and I went to Barron’s at TriCounty on Long Island, where I was able to personalize my veil with the exact tulle and lace I wanted. I also bought a hair comb at there. That same day, we also bought my shoes and purse, as well as ordered Natalie’s shoes and gifts for all of our bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids.

September 16th: We were highlighted on the engagement announcements. Thomas submitted one of our engagement pictures to the NY Daily News over the summer. They called one evening for a follow up interview. It was very cool to see our names and picture
in the paper.

September 17th: Thomas and I ran a bunch of wedding related errands. First, we added two limos to our contract. One limo is for the day of the wedding to bring our parents from Brooklyn to Long Island. The second car is for the day after the wedding for our immediate families to get back to Brooklyn from the hotel. Next, we picked up Michela’s flower girl dress from the tailor. Three of the pickups were unraveled and missing the sparkle channels on her dress. Originally the company was going to exchange the dress however because I took my sweet- time returning it I went past the grace period. Always having a plan B, I took the dress to Stressi and they did a fabulous job! Finally, we met up with Billy, Giovanna and their adorable new baby girl, Sofia to pick out the groomsmen’s tuxedos. Surprisingly enough, THIS was the most stressful part the planning for me. Even though we left with design on paper, when we returned on Sunday for my brother & father’s fittings, I changed them!

September 20th: Thomas had the first part of his bachelor party, paint balling in PA along with about 15 of his friends and family. They had a great time even though they all came home bruised and battered.

October 1st: I went for my hair and makeup trial at Bruno’s Salon and Spa in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I had every confidence in their brilliance, so it’s needless to say that I was overjoyed with the results. I was very close to crying when we put the veil on to take pictures.
