Fabulously Framed!

We got the call on August 6th that our engagement pictures were completed. The next day, I met Thomas at work and we drove out to Long Island to pick them up. Let me just tell you, it took 2 hours to get there thanks to traffic! We were miserable by the time we got there but once we had the disk in our hands (and Tom found an IHOP for dinner) all was good with the world again. We are using our favorite images on various elements of the wedding… so pay attention! =) Here are some of the images for your viewing pleasure. We hope you like them too!

Star Style

Every day I visit a bride-2-be forum for ideas, pictures, etc. Well today I was searching the forum and a fellow bride posted a picture of Mariah Carey’s new engagement ring. While I was reading the article and the corresponding thread of comments, I took notice of the ring in question. Under a bit of examination, I realized that Mariah Carey’s engagement ring setting was extremely similar if not exactly like my engagement ring’s setting. So I called Tom over and he confirmed that it was pretty much the same setting!

So the moral of this story is two-fold. First, Thomas and Nicole have EXCELLENT taste in jewelry and secondly, I have too much time on my hands at times.

Celebrating with Friends

On March 1st, we celebrated our engagement with friends at Stouy NYC in Midtown. We had a great time. The drinks were great and food was even better. They also had karaoke which was so much fun.

Our Proposal Story

We were in our apartment getting ready to go to his parents for Sunday dinner in November 11th, 2007. I was sitting on our love seat, when he turned off the football game, took my laptop from me and starred at me for about 5 minutes. It freaked me out. He just kept smiling and kissing my hand. He started to speak and at first I honestly thought he was breaking up with me, so I started to mentally plan his death. =) Then I realized what really was going on that I was just trying to breath. I didnt hear 90% of it. lol.

This is what Tom said:
"These last four years have been incredible. We are like two puzzle pieces that just fit together. I love you more than words can say. You are everything to me. You have made me so happy. You make me smile. Every time I think of you it puts a smile on my face. You have made me a better man. From the moment you put makeup on me at New Year's eve I knew you were the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Anyone who could survive my family and on top of it put makeup on me was definitely for me. I knew that next morning that you were the one. I want to have kids with you. I want to raise a family with you. I want to hold grandchildren with you and spoil them with you. I want to grow old with you. Since this apartment is where we took the first step together on this next stage of our relationship, I figured it only appropriate to take the next step. (kneels down) Athina Marie Sanchez, will you marry me?"

My response was "are you sh*tting me" (My mom must be so proud. haha!) I finally said YES. Hug. Kiss. Kiss. Kiss. Hug. We went to his parents' house, where he planned a surprise party with a handful of his family, a bunch of friends and some of my family.

I still lose my breathe every time I think about it. There's a myth if you make a wish when the clock turns to 11:11 it will come true. Well, Tom made my dreams come true when the calendar turned to 11/11. Unknown to me, he recorded the proposal. With the distance of the camera from us, Tom's whispering and the camera itself the quality isn't too great, but I still treasure it.
