3 Years Ago... part 1

3 years ago today, Tom and I went on our first date. Here is the EXACT LiveJournal post from that morning.

Little did I know it was going to be the last first date, ever.

I came home from class that day, partly relieved that all my finals were over and partly terrified b/c the night was still to come. It wasnt the first time I was meeting him, but it was the first time where one of us wasn't attached to another person.

Up and until about 5 mins. after he rang my doorbell I was basically havign a panic attack. I was in a 4.5 year relationship until Sept. of 2003, so I literally forgot how to date. Im serious! (dont laugh its true!)

We went to see Gothika at the UA in Sheepshead Bay. As soon as we got in the car (after I was calmed down by the sight of a zillion little stuffed animals in his backseat) I passed the "Bronx Tale Test." (If you dont know what it is, like Tom, rent the movie.) It was basic instinct, but I still get points for it I think. lol.

After the HORRIBLE movie we drove into Bay Ridge. Ok, so we've been out what... a total of 2-3 hours? Does it surprise anyone who REALLY know me, to know I actually yelled at him the first date? Nope, didn't think so. Well, the story goes, I saw him struggle to read the street sign so jokingly I said he should get glasses. He replied he had them in the car. I made the standard "they are doing you alot of good I can see" joke and proceeded to yell at him to wear them. lol. Side note: on the way home, he wore them!

We went for drinks at what-was "Shangra la" (formerly known as Rock n Jocks, back in the day) where I actually ran into Justin S. who I hadn't seen seen since high school. We found a table, had drinks and there was the a bount of awkward silence that was quickly remedied with us telling embarassing stories about ourselves. At one point, one of us (I cant recall who, but Im lead to believe it was me) gazed the other's hand. Ya know, gotta get the physical contact in. lol. We joked a little more, and left after the drink.

Walking back down the street to the car we joked with one another... tickling and teasing (for tom and tina this has become common practice) and right off the corner, near a tree in front of Circles Restaurant we shared our first kiss. If it was a Disney movie this is where all the stars shine brighter, the animals stop in their tracks to watch, the trees sway in our direction, so on and so forth, until the theme song plays and fades to black. It was the perfect kiss and one that there was no comparison to at the time.

We got back to my apartment, hung out for a little bit and than parted ways.

Damn.. had I known all of that was going to happen, I would have worn something more memoriable than what I had on. lol.

Anyway... thank you for taking this trip down memory lane with me. Please return your trays to an upright position.....
